Comic book guys and gals: Kevin Smith wants you for his new reality show. “He’s not looking for actors, he’s looking for real people who live and breathe the comic book lifestyle. BREAKING BAD SEASON 4 TRAILER! BREAKING BAD SEASON 4 TRAILER! Stop whatever you’re doing immediately!
“There’s been a lot of speculation and misinformation in the press about what is going on. I want the fans to know directly from me that I had nothing to do with this delay and it is not about money. I am fighting for the cast and for the show. And I appreciate the kindness and concern of the fans.”
Mad Men maestro Matthew Weiner defends himself, saying it’s not his fault that he and AMC haven’t yet reached a deal. He also disputes that he’s been offered $10 million to continue with the show for three years, though notably doesn’t say whether that number is too high or too low.
Says AMC: “AMC has officially authorized production of season 5 of Mad Men, triggering our option with Lionsgate (Mad Men‘s production company). While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, Mad Men will be back for a fifth season in early 2012.”
The show typically starts production in the spring and debuts in July, but since AMC and Matthew Weiner haven’t yet made a deal on the upcoming fifth season, the network will probably have to delay the scheduling of the next batch of episodes. Even Jon Hamm isn’t sure when the deal will be set: “We’re still in limbo,” he told EW.
Although the author-slash-former-EW-columnist is still early in negotiations, the current plan would be for King to co-write an episode with his son, Joe Hill, the author of horror novels Heart-Shaped Box and Horns.
