Missing Katniss and Peeta already? Catching Fire‘s November 2013 release date seem like an eternity away? Not to worry: Later this summer you’ll be able to watch The Hunger Games at home. The movie hits Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 18.

The two-disc set will include over three hours of unreleased material, including interviews with the cast and crew and details about some of the story lines that differed from the book — like President Snow’s character (Donald Sutherland) and the role of the game maker (Wes Bentley). An eight-part documentary called The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games delves into the behind-the-scenes aspect of creating the film. The extras also include the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping.

The I Am Legend helmer — no relation to star Jennifer Lawrence — won the gig over reported contender Bennett Miller (Moneyball), whose commitment to a fall shoot for the biopic Foxcatcher likely ultimately put him out of the running.

“Despite recent speculation in the media, and after difficult but sincere consideration, I have decided not to direct Catching Fire,” Ross said in a statement. “As a writer and a director, I simply don’t have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule.”

That’s right — there is now a Katniss Barbie doll. And if anyone messes with Skipper, she is gonna be pissed.

Hunger Games director Gary Ross has yet to ink a deal for the sequel. (He wants a bigger payday — makes sense, since the first movie has already made roughly 8 bazillion dollars.) Lionsgate and Ross will need to resolve their dispute relatively quickly if they want to stay on schedule for Catching Fire’s November 2013 release.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark — sorry, Katfood Aspercreme and Meatwad Stretchmark — as seen in MAD Magazine’s Hunger Games parody, “Hunger Pains.” Other character names (guess who’s who!): Fail Hotporn, Iffy Stinkpit, Brainitch Antipathy, President Snarl, and… Poo.

Psst, Hunger Games fans — District 12 is for sale! As long as you have $1.4 million.

Surely 1.4 million of you are willing to contribute just $1, right?

Could Amandla Stenberg be any cuter? Because I think we’ve reached critical cuteness mass.

Ahh, finally: Hunger Game of Thrones!

“Hunger Games” scoop! Will “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay” be rated “R”?

According to producer Nina Jacobson, the answer is almost certainly “no.” As she tells EW, “Suzanne wrote these books for young people to be able to read them and discuss them and engage with them, and we would never make a version of the movies where they couldn’t participate in. They were the ones that started all of it and I think they deserve to have the movie be made for them to be able to see.”

Another tidbit: Though a decision hasn’t yet been reached, Mockingjay may indeed be split into two parts. “There’s a whole movie to be made before we really know what we would do next,” says Jacobson. “But as far as the third book, I think that’s still a ‘to-be-determined.’”
