Psst: In just a few minutes, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Andrew Garfield is taking over our Twitter account to answer any and all of your burning questions.

Be there, or be… you know, somewhere else, because you’ve got other stuff to do and we don’t know your life.

UPDATE: Whoops, we were mistaken — Andrew is actually tweeting from the official Spidey account. But tweet at us to get your questions to him!

This week in EW: We talk with Team Spidey — including director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, and Dane DeHaan — about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as the decision to commit to two more Amazing Spider-Man films… and two spin-offs focusing on beloved villains Venom and the Sinister Six.

Remember that Amazing Spider-Man Comic-Con meetup we told you about last week? Well, it happened last Friday — and much to the attendees’ surprise, Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, and director Marc Webb showed up to chat about their upcoming movie. Check out footage from the event here.

It’s hard to know where to begin to dismantle the smugness and intellectual dishonesty in Orson Scott Card’s words. His assertion that gay rights are now “moot” in a country in which 37 states still consider my marriage unworthy of recognition is weak enough, but I’d rather move on to his self-serving appropriation of “tolerance.” No group of people is required to tolerate those who would oppress them, but beyond that, Card is using calm and temperate language to disguise the extremity of his position. He’s not simply against marriage equality; as recently as 2008, he publicly called for straight married Americans to unite in an effort to “destroy” their “mortal enemy,” by which he meant a revolutionary overthrow of any U.S. government led by “dictator-judges” who support same-sex marriage. He’s an off-the-spectrum hatemonger cloaking himself as a voice of principled opposition, and he richly deserves to be shunned.

Mark Harris writes eloquently about Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game, boycotts, and gay Spider-Man. Read all about it!

Reminder: Write a caption for this photo, and you could win VIP passes to this meetup!

And please: INCLUDE A VALID EMAIL IN YOUR ENTRY. We can’t let you know you’ve won otherwise!

[TL:DR version: CONTEST ALERT! See below for details.]

Psst, Spidey fans: We’ve teamed up with Tumblr and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to host this awesome Comic-Con meetup on Friday. Additionally, we’re giving away five V.I.P. passes to the event — and each pass includes a plus-one.

So, how can a Comic-Con attendee win one of these passes? Glad you asked!

To enter the contest, come up with your best caption for the exclusive Amazing Spider-Man 2 photo below. It can be a snippet of dialogue between Spidey and Max Dillon (a.k.a. Electro), a goofy guess at what they’re arguing about, a haiku, whatever — so long as it’s about the picture and it’s funny, you’ve got a shot at winning.

Submit your caption through our Tumblr Ask box, along with a valid email address (formatted as "username AT website DOT com," so that Tumblr doesn’t think it’s spam). We’ll accept entries until 9:30 a.m. ET Thursday, July 18. Winners will be announced later in the day. And please, don’t enter the contest unless you’re actually going to Comic-Con — even if you’ve got a great idea for a caption.

Ready? …GO!

In which our Comic-Con cover becomes EVEN MORE AWESOME.

kibblesmith:

Hey @EW, I finished your Spider-Man 2 cover for you.

This is just swell.

I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?

Andrew Garfield thinks it’d be cool if Spider-Man swung a different way. (He also wanted MJ to be played by Michael B. Jordan.)

This week in EW: COMIC-COOOOOON!!! Plus three additional bonus covers featuring Ender’s Game, the upcoming remake of Carrie, and BBC America’s Orphan Blackclick through to see them all.
