Put down your bows, Brave fans! After more than a week of concern over the changed appearance of our favorite animated redhead, a Disney rep tells EW exclusively that there’s no cause for alarm: Merida’s seemingly sexier image was only created for the heroine’s official induction into the Disney Princess Collection and was always planned to be phased out within a few months of the coronation.
Attention, all aspiring Katniss Everdeens and Princess Meridas: Hasbro’s launching a new line of Nerf toys for girls called Nerf Rebelle, starting with this one — the Heartbreaker Bow. Bullseye?
What is your damage, Princess Merida’s hair? I am going through some MAJOR HAIR ENVY this week and it’s all 1,500 of your individually animated CGI curls’ fault!
You’ve completely mesmerized me. I see you everywhere now — undulating and breathing fire over my bed, waving your honorary Independent Spirit award in front of my face and whispering with varying degrees of fierceness, “Look at all my different textures.” I want to buy a blanket of you that I could drape over my head while in public and prop up somewhere in my line of vision while resting in private, non-mirrored rooms. Since you came into my life, I’d mist you so bad.
Happy Monday! We’re starting the week off right — with an exclusive set of new character posters from Pixar’s Brave. Nice hair!
Ooo, pretty concept art for Pixar’s upcoming movie Brave—only at EW.com. Here’s some more info on the film:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Reese Witherspoon, originally—now voiced by Kelly Macdonald) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
