Perhaps threatened by the high-impact stage presence of Mariah Carey’s boobs, Nicki Minaj has begun to fancy her constant side-eyes as two more main characters on American Idol. Can she please cut it out and cede the spotlight to the real stars of the show — Keith Urban’s highlights?

American Idol’s new judging panel is official — but who will be the “mean” one? The “nice” one? The “crazy” one? The “useless” one? Who’s most likely to spontaneously cry? To spontaneously dance? To provide thoughtful, constructive feedback that is both honest and entertaining to hear? (It could happen!)

Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” video is full of bright colors, fast cuts, and lots of spastic movement — but not much rapping, which is a shame.
Save for the wacky hair, this video could have been made by Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears… and based on what we’ve heard, that seems to be exactly what Minaj wants us to think.

As EW’s Kyle Anderson writes, “In reality, that opening sentence”—which precedes the full video for Kanye West’s “Monster”—”will be way more incendiary than anything in the actual clip. Just because something is ‘an art piece’ doesn’t let it off the hook for misogyny. And not allowing people to even enter into a conversation about whether or not it offends women is, in itself, sort of misogynistic.” Do you agree?
